21 Jul 2019

With spring comes the desire to enjoy beautiful sunny days in the open air. Better yet if it’s done while behind the wheel of a super luxury car discovering unique landscapes on the wine roads of Tuscany, pampering oneself with unforgettable experiences of tasting wines, oil and cheeses in the cellars, and visiting art cities.

In early April, Ferrari clients were given the opportunity to drive the brand’s latest convertible on the roads of this enchanting region, where the Portofino showcased its unique combination of performance and superior comfort in a journey through the rolling Tuscan hills, discovering particularly beautiful places.

The Ferrari Portofino starred in a tour of the Chianti region in Tuscany, dedicated to sharing the passion of driving and the exclusivity of a dream. The new car, which takes its name, Portofino, from one of the most charming villages on the Italian Riviera, an eponym for stylish elegance, is a most versatile Ferrari designed to be driven every day, that also effortlessly converts from an authentic ‘berlinetta’ coupé to a drop-top capable of delivering a unique Ferrari soundtrack and superb driving pleasure even in day-to-day situations.

Steeped in history and Renaissance art, the Chianti region is home to excellent wines that are born near the hilly Montalbano massif, dotted with olive groves that give life to the very precious extra virgin olive oil. A beautiful journey that allows one to understand the completeness of the identity of Chianti: a wine and a land with a thousand faces and unmissable flavors.Every day of the tour took a new route, from Castello di Casole to Castel Monastero and then from San Gimignano to Siena, where the Ferrari Portofino models lined up in Piazza del Campo on an early Saturday morning. A journey designed for those who want to devote some time and live slow in the magic of vineyards and cellars, ancient streets and cities of art. A different and original way to discover places of rare beauty but also of great culture and tradition.

The stunning Tuscan countryside was chosen to underline the driving pleasure and versatility of this GT model, which converts from being a coupé to a sporty spider with the unique sound of its 600-horsepower V8 engine providing the soundtrack.

The event was the first in a series of Ferrari GT Tours which took take drivers through some of Europe’s most famous landscapes: the coast of the Basque Country and the Swiss Alps in May, Scotland and Bavaria in June.
