TEE UP FOR OUR CHILDREN CHARITY GOLF EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
The Tee Up For Our Children Charity Golf received great support for a great cause.
Society’s future lies in our youth, and as such, children’s charity events typically receives great support. Such was the case at the Tee Up For Our Children charity golf held on 27 June at the New Course of the Singapore Island Country Club.
A hundred and forty-four keen golfers represented a mix of individual and corporate participants teeing up at the event, that saw Mr Seah Kian Peng, Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore, as the Guest-of-Honour.
Apart from golf at one of Singapore’s premier courses, golfers were treated to lunch, novelty games of Nearest to Line, Nearest to Pin, Longest Drive, and Beat the Pro,
and a delicious dinner. Entertainment during the dinner included a silent auction, and a live performance. The lucky draw presentation was a notable highlight of the evening with great prizes including a pair of tickets from Singapore Airlines and two golf flights at Els Club Desaru.
Funds raised from the event will go to supporting Singapore Children’s Society and the diverse range of programmes and services they run. Guest-of-Honour Mr Seah reflected Singapore Children’s Society’s proactive approach to advocating children’s mental wellness in his speech.
“There are several noteworthy initiatives under Children’s Society,” Mr Seah said. “The Tinkle Friend service, which is easily accessible online, and the Oasis For Minds programme are both excellent resources. Under their Our Mighty Minds programme, workshops are conducted to provide mental wellness check-ins and enhance mental health literacy not just for children and youth, but also for parents and adults. Early detection and intervention are crucial, and it is essential for adults, especially parents, to pick up signs earlier.”
Singapore Children’s Society will continue adapting their services to meet the changing needs of their clients, while staying true to its mission of bringing relief and happiness to children in need.
