TaylorMade Tour Response And Soft Response

13 Sep 2020

TaylorMade has an athlete portfolio that includes Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy, Jason Day, Jon Rahm, Rickie Fowler, Matthew Wolff and Collin Morikawa, and almost all play the company’s TP5 or TP5x balls designed to perform for the best players in the world.

With 80% of all TaylorMade balls sold in the US that are either tour level or budget balls, the company sought to fill the huge gap and respond to the club golfer who said “I want a golf ball that’s designed for me.” The resultant two-part answer is by way of the Tour Response and Soft Response.

Highlighted by a 100% cast urethane cover, Tour Response delivers Tour-quality performance at an affordable price. Engineered for dominant distance, Soft Response utilises a breakthrough dimple pattern along with an ultra-soft core designed to increase speed.

Both Response balls deliver effortless compression to efficiently transfer energy and rebound at impact. The Tour Response core has an ultra-low compression of 40, while Soft Response is even lower at 35. The 3-piece construction further allows for soft feel while still maintaining impressive distance.

“Urethane is found on 100% of the balls used on the PGA Tour. It’s that good. We’re bringing that same innovation to our Tour Response line, essentially making a softer version of our TP5 and TP5x. Soft Response is a multi-layer golf ball designed for even softer feel, and with our new Extended Flight Dimple Pattern the player can obtain explosive distance.”

Tour Response

Tour Response features a softer 100% cast urethane cover with improved shear resistance and greater durability. This allows grooves to better grip the ball for increased wedge spin for the average golfer compared to ionomer products. This only non-Tour ball to offer a urethane cover, Tour Response blends Tour-quality materials with performance specifically engineered to benefit all golfers.

Utilising the same performance technology as the TP5 snd TP5x, Speedmantle with HFMq is the firmer second layer surrounding the soft inner core that delivers an explosive energy transfer.

Soft Response

Soft Response focuses on protecting distance in a softer ball; the specialised Extended Flight Dimple Pattern of shallow u-shaped dimples promote decreased drag and increased lift so the ball stays in the air longer at lower spin rates. That’s good news for players with average swing speeds struggling to keep the ball airborne. It’s why club fitters match slower swing speed players with drivers that increase spin rates. Now through intelligent golf ball design, Soft Response offers another alternative.

A soft ionomer cover adds to the feel yet achieves improved scuff resistance, shear resistance and overall durability. With a ZnO Flex Core with an ultra-low compression of 35, expect an extremely soft feel without distance loss.

Tour Response is offered in white and yellow, while Soft Response is available in white, yellow and matte red.
