SOE Fundraising Golf Challenge 2024

22 Aug 2024

Entrepreneurs and the like gathered to make the SOE Fundraising Golf Challenge 2024 a success.

A maximum 36 golf flights were sold at the event.

The SOE Fundraising Golf Challenge 2024 marked a memorable day at the prestigious Laguna National Golf Resort Club (LNGRC) on 3 July. This year’s event saw enthusiastic participation despite unexpected weather, making it an unforgettable occasion.

Some selective “lubrication” provided a nice touch at lunch.

Held for the first time at LNGRC, the tournament sold out all 36 flights for the shotgun start, underscoring the growing support for SOE’s mission. Golfers competed enthusiastically, motivated by three attractive Hole-in-One prizes: a Mercedes Benz A45S AMG from Supreme Cars, $100,000 in cash courtesy of Tan Insurance Brokers, and $30,000 worth of designer furnishings from W Atelier.

The attractive tournament board was a popular backdrop for pre- game photos.

Adding to the excitement was a raffle draw featuring 80 prizes worth over $20,500! The tickets sold out quickly, and the top prize—a set of TaylorMade P770 Irons valued at $2,740— generated significant buzz among the golfers.

The tournament wasn’t without its challenges though. A sudden lightning warning and heavy downpour halted the afternoon game for about two hours. However, the golfers maintained high spirits, mingling over drinks and snacks until the weather cleared.

Once play resumed, the skies stayed clear, allowing the tournament to conclude smoothly. The day culminated in a spectacular dinner-and-auction evening at the Laguna Ballroom, where guests enjoyed a sumptuous six-course Chinese dinner, complemented by flowing drinks and lively conversation.

The evening also included a prize presentation segment, celebrating the best-performing golfers with trophies and sponsored prizes. The highlight, however, was the auction, featuring coveted items like a Lionel Messi-signed Argentina World Cup jersey, Taylor Swift’s guitar and hand-signed CD, and a Tiger Woods-signed golf ball with a US Masters Flag, among others. Bidding was lively and all items found new owners, contributing
to a record-breaking $46,000 raised, setting a new benchmark for SOE’s annual event.
