Distinctive Dials And Gem Set Bezels Further Elevate This Watch Of Prestige

A classic symbol of prestige and status, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date has been worn by many of the world’s political figures, directors and visionaries. With such distinguished lineage it has gained a reputation as the “presidents’ watch”. And perhaps the most famous Day-Date in sports was worn by golf’s greatest player, Jack Nicklaus; it remained on his wrist for the better part of 50 years, witness to twelve of his eighteen major victories.

Launched in 1956, the Day-Date was the first calendar wristwatch to indicate the day of the week spelt out in full, with the display offered in 26 languages. Adding to the exclusivity, Day-Date watches are crafted only in precious metals of 18 ct yellow, white or Everose gold, or 950 platinum.

The latest generation of the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 36 feature distinctive new dials and gem-set bezels. With a novel dial design and concentric gradient, the first of two is in 18 ct yellow gold featuring a green ombré dial; the second, in 18 ct Everose gold is presented with a brown ombré dial. Both are embellished with diamond hour markers in 18 ct gold settings, with baguette-cut diamonds at 6 and 9 o’clock.

Two other versions, one in 18 ct white gold and the other in 18 ct yellow gold, are fitted with decorative stone dials – pink opal for one and a slightly veined turquoise for the other – enhanced by shimmering hour markers with Roman numerals VI and IX in 18 ct gold set with diamonds. Adorning the bezel are 52 brilliant-cut diamonds.

Yet more precious is the final watch in 18 ct white gold; the dial is entirely paved with diamonds while the hour markers are fashioned from ten baguette-cut sapphires in rainbow colours. Illuminating the bezel are 52 brilliant-cut diamonds and a bracelet set with 412 diamonds along the centre links. Reflections off the case sides and lugs highlight the elegant profile of the 36-mm Oyster case.
