BMW's Top-Of-The-Line Grand Tourer Receives A Facelift

There’s no mistaking the BMW M8 Competition; the coupé, convertible, and gran coupé all stand out with their blend of sublime performance, captivating luxury and commanding presence. In an update to sharpen the profile of this high-performance luxury sports car, BMW introduces design modifications and upgrades for their control and operation technology.

Engineered to deliver an exhilarating driving experience, the V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology develops a maximum output of 460 kW/625 hp and peak torque of 750 Nm (553 lb-ft). In M fashion, expect high levels of torque over a wide rpm band, while an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic and the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system channels optimum power to the road in a harmonious mix of dynamism, agility and precision. 0 to 100 km/h takes just 3.2 seconds, and only 0.1 sec more in the convertible.

The unmistakable visual appearance of the BMW M8 Competition now sees the introduction of eight new exterior colours – Skyscraper Grey metallic, Brooklyn Grey metallic, Isle of Man Green metallic and Tanzanite Blue metallic are joined by new frozen paint finishes with silk matt shimmer to accentuate the design language of the BMW M8 to striking effect. Choose from Frozen Pure Grey metallic, Frozen Deep Grey metallic, Frozen Deep Green metallic and Frozen Tanzanite Blue metallic.

Adding extra visual impact to the car’s front are the optional M lights Shadow Line with dark finished inlays and chrome detailing inside the headlights; an effect enhanced by the high-gloss black of the kidney grille surround.

The combination of M Dynamic Mode together with the M xDrive system’s rear-biased set-up gives the driver the tools to execute sporty manoeuvres, including controlled drifts with the new star-spoke designed 20-inch M light-alloy wheels in black/grey finish.

The M-style cockpit design and modern luxury of the interior is now trimmed in full Merino leather/Alcantara upholstery, and is also available in a Black/Sakhir Orange colour scheme for the first time to bring a refreshed look to the cabin. Black Alcantara sections now extend to cover the instrument panel and the tops of the door shoulders.

Replacing the standard M sport seats with exposed carbon-fibre reinforced plastic M Carbon bucket seats in new leather/Alcantara upholstery adds authentic racing-car flair. Illuminated with an “M8” badge in the head restraints, the seats boast a combination of racing functionality with excellent comfort over long distances, are heated and electrically adjustable with memory function on the driver’s side.

For greater ease of use, BMW Live Cockpit Professional features a large 12.3 inch control display with touchscreen for quick, easy and intuitive operation of vehicle functions. Features include the online-based navigation system BMW Maps and the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. The inclusion of the driving assistant, parking assistant with reversing assistant, telephony with wireless charging and Harman Kardon Surround Sound System as standard on the new BMW M8 models further underlines their exclusive character.
