ROLEX’S ICONIC TIMEPIECES
The same but different.
Rolex offers fresh looks at some of its most iconic models by infusing them with new materials, colours and textures for 2024. All along, the brand’s in-house development team brings the epitome of watchmaking expertise to a range that balances functionality with aesthetics and performance. A lifelong marriage of tradition and innovation.
OYSTER PERPETUAL GMT-MASTER II
Rolex introduces two new Oystersteel versions of the GMT-Master II. The first watch is fitted with an Oyster bracelet, while the second sports a Jubilee bracelet.
On the new versions of the GMT-Master II, the bidirectional rotatable bezel is fitted with a two-colour, 24-hour graduated Cerachrom bezel insert in grey and black ceramic. The moulded, recessed graduations and numerals are coated with platinum via PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition). The bezel can also be turned with ease thanks to its knurled edge, which offers excellent grip.
The muted contrasting dual-colour combinations of the grey and black ceramic colours signify the alternation of day and night. The black lacquer dial bears the inscription ‘GMT-Master II’ in green, echoing the colour of the triangle-tipped 24-hour hand which, like a beam of light, calls attention to our connection with the world.
The GMT-Master II is equipped with calibre 3285, a movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex that was released in 2018 and introduced on the model the same year. Equipped with a Rolex overcoil, ensuring the calibre’s regularity in any position. The oscillator is mounted on the Rolex-designed, patented high-performance Paraflex shock absorbers, increasing the movement’s shock resistance.
The middle case of the versions presented is crafted from a solid block of Oystersteel. Its case back, edged with fine fluting, is hermetically screwed down with a special tool that allows only Rolex watchmakers to access the movement. The Triplock winding crown fitted with a triple waterproofness system and protected by an integral crown guard, screws down securely against the case. The watch is guaranteed waterproof to a depth of 100m.
OYSTER PERPETUAL ROLEX DEEPSEA
The first Rolex deep- sea divers’ watch in 18 ct yellow gold, the new Rolex Deepsea is decked in blue and features an as-yet- unseen combination of materials: gold paired with elements in ceramic and RLX titanium. The high-performance compression ring is made from blue ceramic, a technical innovation that marks a new way of integrating this material into the watch case.
This Cerachrom ring, which is decorated with a circular satin finish, forms part of the Ringlock system, a unique case architecture that enables the watch to withstand the colossal pressure of the abyss. The helium escape valve, which works to protect the integrity of the watch during the decompression phase in a hyperbaric chamber, is manufactured from RLX titanium, as is the case back. The uniformity of colour between the dial, bezel insert and compression ring is a triumph, accentuated by the 18 ct yellow gold of the case and the Oyster bracelet.
OYSTER PERPETUAL SKY-DWELLER
The Sky-Dweller in 18 ct Everose gold or yellow gold is now available with a Jubilee bracelet. The unique bracelet is a standout feature, with the smaller, polished centre links contrasting with the satin- finished outer links. Paired with a slate dial on the version in 18 ct Everose gold and with an intense white dial on the watch in 18 ct yellow gold, this bracelet is also appreciated for the patented ceramic inserts – designed by the brand – inside the links to enhance its flexibility on the wrist and its longevity.
PERPETUAL 1908
The 1908 is now available in 950 platinum with an ice blue dial. The guilloché dial has a rice-grain motif, created via guillochage, or engine turning – a technique that uses a turning tool to sculpt a geometric pattern into a surface. This rosette- like design is distinctive for its three-dimensional, repeating geometric pattern that extends across the surface of the dial, starting from the small seconds counter at 6 o’clock. The minute track is surrounded by a filet sauté with a crimped pattern, which is also guilloché.
OYSTER PERPETUAL COSMOGRAPH DAYTONA
The two new precious and exclusive versions of the Cosmograph Daytona are distinctive for their contrasting dial made from natural mother-of-pearl and graced with eight diamonds and three Chromalight hour markers. The first version, fitted on an Oysterflex bracelet, features a dial in white mother-of-pearl with chronograph counters in black mother-of-pearl. The colour combination is reversed on the second watch, which has an Oyster bracelet. The discs of material used for the dial and the counters are positioned to optimise the colour intensity of each variety of mother-of-pearl and further enhance the contrast between them.
OYSTER PERPETUAL DAY-DATE
The two new Day-Date 40 models in 18 ct Everose gold and 18 ct yellow gold are highlighted by dials of ombré, coloured blue- green or in pearlised white mother-of-pearl, faceted, deconstructed Roman numerals and faceted index hour markers, and a bezel set with 60 trapeze-cut diamonds. Colours, materials, motifs, hour markers – each element contributes to the harmony of the new combinations. The new versions of the Day-Date express the brand’s enduring desire for rare and wide-ranging expertise to be found in even the smallest details.
