THE PREMIUM RUN-UP EVENT THE MAYBANK CHAMPIONSHIP RETURNS AFTER THE PANDEMIC

Now the pandemic has passed, one of the region’s most anticipated customer golf tournaments is back
with a bang. Held on 21 September at one Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC), the Maybank Cards Regional Golf Tournament saw 120 Maybank Premium card members tee it up for a day of fun,
excitement and glorious prizes.

The event is just one of the many held on the road towards the Maybank Championship 2023, which was held at KLGCC from 26 to 29 October showcasing some of the world’s best female golfers, including Malaysia’s own Kelly Tan. This exclusive and by-invitation-only tournament was also held to engage with, and show appreciation for Maybank’s Premium card members who made recent golf-related transactions with Maybank credit cards.

The Regional Cards Golf Tournament also featured the top four players from Malaysia and Singapore, namely Mr Chong Liang Shyong, Mr Fong Chin Loong, Mr Ilyas Mohd Sapiyan, Mr Saw Kok Wooi, Mr Tan Zi Yond, Mr Chang Hai Peng, Dato’ Goon Heng Wah, and Mr Tommy Low. Golfers have handicaps
ranging from 7 to 22.

Apart from a great day out on KLGCC’s West Course – one of Malaysia’s best golf courses – participants also stood to win Pro-Am spots to play at the Maybank Championship 2023. Additional prizes of two corporate box tickets to watch a live game at Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium served as icing on the cake among the numerous novelty and lucky draw prizes given away during the lunch attended by the chairman of Maybank.

The Regional Cards Golf Tournament in Malaysia was hosted by Dato’ John Chong, Group CEO of Community Financial Services and Mr B Ravintharan, Head of the Cards Group.

This year, Maybank also held a corresponding tournament in Singapore on 29 September at the Serapong Course of Sentosa Golf Club. The tournament saw participation from 112 Maybank Premium
card members, and potential members. Hosted by Mr B Ravintharam, Head of the Cards Group at Maybank, prizes in the Singapore edition similarly included spots in the Maybank Championship 2023 Pro-Am, inclusive of flights and accommodation.
