The exclusive golf weekend at Laguna Phuket hosted by world-renowned
golf legend and six-time Major winner Sir Nick Faldo had concluded with
great success with several exciting events – a Sunset Cocktail at Cassia
Phuket, a Golf Clinic, an exclusive game with Sir Nick himself
destinations of Lang Cô in Central Vietnam, Bintan in Indonesia to here
in Phuket, Thailand,” he concluded.
A huge advocate for junior golf
development through his famed Faldo Series tournaments, Sir Nick Faldo
said, “With the aim of developing youths and giving back to the game, I
am delighted to partner Laguna Golf Phuket in hosting Phuket’s
first-ever Faldo Series Thailand Championship – South, in early
September 2016. Created in 1996, the Faldo Series gives opportunity to
young people through golf and to help identify Sir Nick Faldo as Laguna
Golf’s Brand Ambassador. The newly broadened partnership followed the
announcement of Sir Nick as the Brand Ambassador of Laguna Lang Cô,
Laguna Phuket’s sister integrated resort in Central Vietnam, in June
2015.

Faldo as the Brand Ambassador of all three Laguna Golf courses located
in the Laguna and a destination dining experience at the Hole 18 green
of Laguna Golf Phuket. Staying at the Double Pool Villas by Banyan Tree,
Sir Nick also spent time to play, practise and unwind at the
awardwinning Laguna Phuket. Over two days, 26 golfers and media had the
privilege to interact closely with Sir Nick who led a fun thirty-minute
golf clinic for all golfers before kicking start the golf game. He
shared insightful golfing tips and the golfers also played two holes
with Sir Nick, under his keen guidance. At the welcome cocktail party,
Laguna Phuket officially announced the appointment of six-time Major
winner and nurture the next generation of champions. Hosted in 30
countries around the world, the Faldo Series benefit more than 7,000
young golfers each year. With first-class golf course and practice
facilities, the qualifying event at Laguna Golf Phuket is open to young
local golfers aged 12-21 years. The winners of each age group will have
an opportunity to compete and qualify for the 11th Faldo Series Asia
Grand Final hosted by Sir Nick Faldo in March 2017 at Laguna Golf Lang
Cô in Central Vietnam.” During this visit, Sir Nick Faldo was also
invited as the Guest-of-Honour to officiate the Grand Opening of the new
British International School, Phuket (BISP) Golf Centre. A specialist
training area, which comprises putting greens, chipping areas, bunkers,
and a netted driving range, it is built to allow talented young golfers
in the BISP Golf Academy to practice the full range of shots within the
school’s spacious 44-acre campus. Since the re-launch last year, Laguna
Golf Phuket has seen traction and played host to numerous high-profile
international players and celebrities, including Sir Nick.
