GOLF ASIA MASTERS 2024

05 Jun 2024

Fun and games continue to thrive at the 2024 Golf Asia Masters event.

Having a good time on and off the golf course at a social event are the keys to a fine day spent with friends. And having the chance to win great prizes, of course. All of these elements came together once again at the annual Golf Asia Masters. The 2024 edition of the tournament organised by Golf Asia Magazine, Media Group, was held at the beautiful and challenging Tampines Course at Tanah Merah Country Club.

The weather gods were kind and blessed the tournament with clear skies and bright sunshine. And when the golfers took to the Phil Jacobs-designed course, they were undoubtedly looking forward to winning one of the hole-in-one prizes. It would have been either a stroke of great luck, or a touch of amazing skills for anyone to score an ace on the difficult par-3 holes at Tampines. But they were certainly tempted by the fine list of prizes on offer which included a Mercedes-Benz CLA 180 sponsored by CarTimes, 120 bottled wine cellar filled with 120 bottles of wine from CornerStone, $30,000 worth of designer furnishings from W Atelier, and $100,000 in cash from HL Assurance.

Throughout the day, COBRA PUMA was on hand to present their latest range, the COBRA Darkspeed drivers, fairway woods, hybrids, and irons. Golfers had a chance to test these clubs on selected holes while standing to win the numerous novelty prizes that included a COBRA Darkspeed X Fairway for Nearest to Line; COBRA Vintage Stingray Putter for Nearest to Pin; COBRA Darkspeed X Driver for Longest Drive; COBRA Snakebite Wedge for Into the Zone; and PUMA Phantomcat NITRO shoes for Inside the Circle.

Apart from being able to test the new COBRA Darkspeed clubs on the course, participants enjoyed refreshing ice cream from a traditional cart in between holes. Other refreshments included pastries and cakes sponsored by Hayley Bread, beer from Carlsberg, and drinks from Sportade and Polar Mineral Water. And for those a little more daring, cocktails like Whiskey Sour, Negroni, Cosmopolitan and Boulevardier were also on tap at the halfway house.

When the sun went down, and all the holes were played, golfers sat down for a wonderful multi-course Chinese dinner prepared by the F&B team at Tanah Merah Country Club at the grand Tampines ballroom. Emcee Ross Sarpani welcomed and entertained the group to great laughter.

The much-anticipated lucky draw didn’t disappoint and many golfers won great prizes sponsored by Bacha Coffee, City Golfer, Crystal Time, Cygnett, Els Club Desaru and Teluk Datai, GolfX, Guy Laroche, Hayley Bread, Hair+Lab, Horizon Hills Golf and Country Club, Hydro Flask, ID Integrated, Jupiter 57, Kordel’s, Kota Permai Golf and Country Club, Leomhann, Mitsubishi Electric Asia, Naiian, One Farrer Hotel, Pan Pacific Singapore, SMEG, Society A, Vatos, W Atelier, Wolfgang Steakhouse and XTRA.

The top three prizes in the lucky draw went to Claus Jansen who finished third, winning an Edox watch from Crystal Time; Captain Gurinder who was second, winning a Sayl Gaming Chair from XTRA; and Anthony Chong, who topped the list, winning a set of COBRA Darkspeed irons, and COBRA Lagoon Stand Bag worth a total of $2,898.

The Golf Asia Masters was played in a Double Peoria format. Mr Daniel Sing took top honours and won a COBRA Darkspeed X Driver, Ultralight Pro Stand Bag and HydroFlask trophy; Mr Alan Koh came in second, winning a COBRA Darkspeed X Driver, Crown C carry- on and HydroFlask trophy; and Mr Justin Heah took third, winning a COBRA Darkspeed X Driver, Crown C backpack and HydroFlask trophy. Ms Kim Soonjin won the top ladies prize and won a $2,000-Society A voucher and HydroFlask trophy.

Two special draws were also held. Cornerstone Wines sponsored a bottle of Ployez Jacquemart Extra Quality Brut Champagne Magnum worth $207 that was won by Mr CB Chng. And Mr John Tan took home a specially labelled bottle of Whiskey with Golf Asia logo sponsored by Leomhann.
