Callaway Mack Daddy CB

Considering that the majority of golfers these days, tour players included, play some form of forgiving cavity back irons, it’s a mystery why that technology hasn’t trickled over to blade-style wedges earlier. The first true commercially successful cavity-backed wedge only appeared three years ago.

The notion becomes even more compelling when taking into account how most golfers, low handicappers even, aren’t the most accomplished when it comes to shots around the green. Skulls and duffs are more commonplace than chipping one near the hole; and let’s not even mention high flops or the dreaded half wedge.

Wedge technology has mostly focused on spin and sole grinds, until it dawned on someone within the industry to finally ask, “If cavity back irons are more forgiving, why don’t we have cavity back wedges?” And thus, the wheel was re-invented.

The new Mack Daddy CB Wedge is built to take the guesswork out of your short game with enhanced forgiveness, control, and tons of spin for more consistency around the green. This cavity back, game-improvement option is designed for precise shots even when you don’t make perfect contact, and it helps create a smooth transition from your irons to your wedges. With player-friendly shaping, JAWS grooves and premium components, the Mack Daddy CB is engineered for better shots in the scoring zone.

Seamless Transition from Cavity Back Irons
Seamlessly blend game-improvement irons and wedges into your set. The deep cavity back, slightly larger head and thicker topline, develops the confidence of an iron with the control of a wedge.

Player Friendly Sole Grinds
Two sole grinds promote consistency. In the lower lofts, a full sole with moderate bounce prevents chunks and duffs with more forgiving turf interaction. In the higher lofts, a modified W Grind enhances bounce to add forgiveness out of bunkers and thick rough. The low leading edge makes it easy to open the face with confidence.

Aggressive Spin and Enhanced Control
Callaway’s JAWS groove provides precise edge sharpness for maximum grip and spin from all types of lies. On the sand wedge and lob wedge, the JAWS groove extends across the face to the toe’s edge, providing spin wherever you hit it.

Premium Shafts & Grips
The KBS Hi-Rev 2.0 105 shaft in a new lighter weight aids touch and ease of use. There’s even a lighter graphite option with the KBS Hi-Rev G in 60g and 80g.

The Golf Pride SG-1 is an all new short game grip that’s longer than normal at 11.5” to allow choking down on the club for enhanced distance control.
