BMW GOLF CUP SINGAPORE WINNERS SET FOR WORLD FINAL IN THAILAND
Winners of the BMW Golf World Cup Singapore Qualifier head to Thailnd’s capital for the World Final.
The lauded BMW Golf Cup is arguably one of the most high-profile corporate golf events in the world. The event held its Singapore National Final from 4 to 6 September at the Tampines Course of Tanah Merah Country Club, with the winners representing the national in the BMW Golf Cup World Final at Alpine Golf Club in Bangkok, Thailand next March.
-“The National Final tournament represents the climax of our largest ever golf series – BMW World of Golf 2024 – with more than 1,500 participants in attendance throughout the year,” said Lars Nielsen, Managing Director, BMW Group Asia. “Congratulations to our winners on this exceptional achievement. Representing Team Singapore on the world stage is a proud moment for them and their families,” he added.
A total of nine winners emerged from the Singapore National Final, three from each category. Mr Chong Thim Peng, Mr Chong Chun Hoe, and Mr Mark Lim won the Men’s Category I (0-12 handicap); Mr Nathanael Tan, Mr Lim Thoong Fook and Mr Nitin Talwalkar won the Men’s Category II (13-24 handiap); and Ms Sara Lew, Ms Karen Yap, and Ms Lee Sook Mee won the Ladies’ Category.
“I am thrilled about the World Final and certain that the whole experience will be etched in my memory for a long time to come,” admits Mr Nathanael Tan. “Together with my teammates, we will do our best to bring glory to Singapore in Bangkok next year.”
In addition to competing on the Tampines Course, one of the most challenging layouts in Singapore, participants could enjoy limited edition merchandise, food kiosks and massage stations at the National Final. There were three hole-in-one sponsors – Liberty Insurance, Philip Stein and DBS Bank – and novelty prizes to be won. Garmin, Dalmore, Titleist, and Footjoy were sponors of the Longest Drive, Nearest to Pin, Nearest to Line, and Challenge the Champion with Jaymie Ng events respectively. All participants didn’t go hungry with Old Chang Kee being the F&B partner.
On-course attractions included the showcase of some of BMW’s latest models. The BMW i4 M50, BMW iX1, BMW iX2, BMW iX3, BMW i5 Touring, BMW i7 M70 and MW XM were all on parade at Tanah Merah Country Club.
Beginning in 1982, the BMW Golf Club is one of the oldest global corporate golf events with the first World Final taking place in 1995. This is the largest international amateur tournament series in the world, hosting more than 800 qualifying events and over 100,000 participating players in more than 40 countries.
