ASPRI members tee it up in Sentosa at the ASPRI Golf Challenge 2024

For the second year running, the Association of Process Industry (ASPRI) put together a great day of golf on 6 June where members got to play the New Tanjong Course at Sentosa Golf Club, one of the top courses in Singapore.

The rain delay didn’t dampen spirits as 144 participants waited out the weather for two hours before commencing at 4.30pm to complete their rounds. Needless to say, cool libations of Carlsberg Smooth Draught beer helped to make the time go quicker.

Established in 1997, the ASPRI is a membership-based trade association that represents the interests of more than 700 companies in Singapore’s Process Industry. Its membership comprises mainly Engineering Service Providers (ESPs) that support the Process Industry in the areas of plant construction and maintenance.

Three great hole-in-one prizes were up for grabs. These include a $34,000 Philip Stein Watch on hole four, $30,000 worth of designer furnishings by W Atelier on hole seven, and a Mercedes-Benz GLA 200 sponsored by ID Integrated on hole 15. Unfortunately, all three prizes were returned without winners.

The event was held in a System-36 format. Mr Jack Lyons claimed the Champion Golfer prize with 38 points, winning a Sun Mountain Matchplay Standbag. Mr Eric Leong took second with 37 points on countback, winning a Sun Mountain Ecolite Standbag, while Mr Rajesh of Loh & Loh Construction was third, winning a Sun Mountain Matchplay Duffel Bag. All top three prizes were sponsored by MST Golf.

The team from SINOTEC won the Best Flight category, winning complimentary vouchers for four players at Sentosa Golf Club and a 12- year bottle of whisky.

Mr Gary Gan of RMA hit his tee shot closest to the line on hole nine, winning the Nearest To Line event and a TM Milled Grind 3 Wedge. Big-hitting Mr Kim Tae Jung of KYC Scaffolding launched his ball 250m on hole 12 to win the Longest Drive, and a Mizuno Sporty Cart Bag. And Mr Lee Woon Kek of Unipower Engineering proved the most accurate on hole 17, winning the Nearest To Pin and a TaylorMade Milled Grind 3 Wedge. All novelty prizes were also sponsored by MST Golf.

Other sponsors of the 2024 ASPRI Golf Challenge included Bacha Coffee, Carlsberg, Cygnett, Edox, GolfX, Guy Laroche Sunglasses, HairPlusLab, Horizon Hills Golf & Country Club, Hydro Flask, Jupiter 57, Kordels, Kota Permai Golf & Country Club, One Farrer Hotel, Sentosa Golf Club, Soleus, SWTS Pte Ltd, The Els Club, Teluk Datai, Vatos, W Atelier, Einz Engineering & Construction Pte Ltd, Mencast Offshore & Marine Pte Ltd, ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, and Flemmings Safety Pte Ltd.
