ADIDAS CODECHAOS GOLF SHOES REDEFINED
CODECHAOS from adidas, golf’s snazziest spikeless shoe, gets an upgrade.
CODECHAOS 25 from adidas is the next chapter in a spikeless golf shoe that challenges the convention. The new model, for men and women, introduces a redesigned outsole and upper aimed to provide golfers with enhanced traction and stability in an eye- catching silhouette.
The redesigned outsole features a new 3D TORSION plate which aims to help golfers with stability, also helps to provide better overall fit and prevent midfoot bend that can cause internal heel slip. The team at adidas maintained the iconic TWISTGRIP outsole but adjusted the lug shape and placed it over a greater surface area to help give golfers achieve 40% more grip compared against previous iterations of the footwear.
To further enhance the performance of the shoe, the adidas team worked with engineers at BOA to incorporate the PerformFit® Wrap powered by the BOA Fit System as part of the BOA model of CODECHAOS 25. Covered by a zipper shroud, the PerformFit Wrap offers golfers another component to provide a locked-in feel with additional stability. In studies conducted by the BOA team, they found that models with the PerformFit Wrap generated a 3% improvement on heel hold and a 7% improvement on ankle stability, both critical features that all golfers can benefit from out on the course.
CODECHAOS 25 also features a new hybrid midsole with both BOOST and LIGHTSTRIKE technologies. While BOOST focuses on energy return and cradling the foot, LIGHTSTRIKE is featured around the rim of the midsole to add both stability and comfort when golfers swing.
The upper for CODEHCHAOS 25 is comprised of a multi-layer knit with the goal of providing golfers with additional flexibility. The bottom layer closest to the foot features a soft, moisture-wicking material, which helps to increase comfort over the course of the round. The middle layer, a dynamic jacquard, is an open structure aimed to provide flexibility and help golfers adapt to the lie, while the outer layer is a sporty mesh to enhance the layers beneath. A transparent PU film also provides a ‘window’ into what makes this upper unique while giving golfers waterproof protection.
“CODECHAOS will forever be part of my history as I’ve worn it for many years, including both of my wins as a professional,” said adidas athlete Rose Zhang. “It still amazes me how much traction it offers while being so comfortable. I was also able to test and provide feedback to the team as they were creating this new model, which was a fun project to be a part of.
