The HCA Swing With Me Charity Golf event held on 11 September 2024 proved to be a resounding success!

In celebration of its 35^th anniversary, the HCA Swing With Me Charity Golf event held on 11 September 2024 proved to be a resounding success! A total of 132 golfers from various walks of life came together in support of HCA Hospice’s mission to bring comfort and dignity to those in need.  Over the course of the day, more than $300,000 was raised for terminally ill patients and their families – an incredible demonstration of generosity and community spirit.

Each guest was given a special tote bag, brought to life by HCA’s patients and volunteers. Each doodle symbolizes a personal moment, a cherished story or a heartfelt joy of what life means to them.

The day began with a warm welcome and hearty lunch, which fuelled the players for a shotgun start. This synchronised start embodied the spirit of coming together for a common cause. Blessed by good weather, golfers of all skill levels enjoyed 18 holes of play and the fun novelty games for fastest and slowest swing speed added a light-hearted flair.

After a day of fun and friendly rivalry in the sun, the golfers headed to the ‘nineteenth hole’ for a lively evening reception. The highlight of the night was the live auction, where attendees had the opportunity to bid on exclusive items and experiences, generously donated by prominent local businesses and supporters. Among the most coveted items were signed jerseys from Liverpool and Manchester United football legends as well as unique artwork created by HCA’s own patients and staff, which drew enthusiastic bids from the guests.

The excitement continued during the prize ceremony, where winners of top three players and novelty games walked away with premium putters, drivers and golf simulator vouchers. The night reached a crescendo with a lucky draw featuring 35 attractive items, in celebration of HCA’s 35^th anniversary. These included a high-end carpet worth $1,200, top-quality drivers worth $700 and a luxury hotel stay worth $600, closing the night on a high note.

The funds raised will go a long way in providing comfort and dignity to the 4,100 patients we serve each year. The impact we make together resonates in the lives of the patients and families we support, in the community we build, and in the hope we bring to those in need.”

The success of this year’s tournament is a heartening depiction of the power of community and the impact that can be achieved when people come together for a common purpose. For 35 years, HCA Hospice had been dedicated to providing comfort and dignity to those in need at no cost; and they have been able to extend their reach only through the support of advocates, donors and volunteers.

This event marks the start of HCA’s three-part celebration for its 35^th anniversary.
