Mizuno – Laguna National Junior Golf Championship 2015
Mizuno is at the forefront of golfing and hopes to create a positive impact to the growing interest and development of the sport in the region. This year, the fifth instalment of the junior competition for youth was held from 23 to 25 November 2015. Organised by Laguna National Golf and Country Club, with Mizuno Singapore as sponsor and Golf House as co-sponsor, elite junior golfers were able to come together for a hand in a high profile national championship event.
The three-day event attracted a crowd of almost 70 junior golfers, who represented five different countries in the 54-hole event on the Master Course designed by Andy Dye, renowned for designing some of the best golf courses in the world. Taking home the top place in the Boys A (15-17) Division was Raffles Country Club player, Dane Ang, who accumulated a gross score of 211. Justin Kuk of Keppel Club won the Boy’s B Division Champion Title with an accumulated gross score of 222.
Jovian Hutauruk, an Indonesia native, came close and achieved a second place with a tournament total of 222. In third place is Jodarn Tsan, who posted a tournament total of 223. Nicole Mak of Keppel Club carded 78, 73 and 74 (225), a 10 shots victory over her nearest rival Jacqueline Tan to finish as Overall Champion in the Girls’ Division. Jacqueline won the Girls’ A Division Champion Title with an accumulated gross score of 235 while Jessica Tan came in as 1st runner up with a tournament total of 248. In the younger age bracket of the Girls’ Division, Vanessa Khoo manage to narrowly edge out a two-stroke victory with scores of 79, 73 and 79 (231). Her nearest rival, Lizanna Lam finished the tournament with a total gross score of 233. Rachel Maswi of Orchid Country Club completed the event in third place with a gross score of 241.
